Benefits

Âé¶¹Ô­´´ faculty and staff enjoy a comprehensive choice of insurance plans including medical, vision, dental, life, dependent life, accident, short-term disability, long-term disability, and flexible spending accounts.
 
The Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) is administered by the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS). Additional benefits include cancer, critical illness and hospital protection plans administered by AFLAC. Additional details are located within the Employee Handbook.

Optional benefits are available at group rates. Dependent coverage is optional and employee is responsible for the premiums. Dependent eligibility is subject to occasional audits by ERS or designee.

ERS offers Âé¶¹Ô­´´ employees a choice between HealthSelect and Consumer-Directed HealthSelect which is a high-deductible plan; both plans administered by BlueCross Blue Shield of Texas.

24/7 Nurseline

Toll-free Nurseline at (800) 581-0368. If you're not sure where to go for care or you have medical questions, call the 24/7 Nurseline. Registered nurses are available to answer your questions any time, any day of the year.

Vision Plan

Your health plan covers some vision and eye health services, including an eye exam and treatment for eye diseases. State of Texas Vision offers an allowance on the cost of eyeglasses or contact lenses, as well as discounts for LASIK.

Dental Plans

Employees have a choice of two dental insurance plans. Employees can only enroll in one of the two dental plans. Members and dependents must be enrolled in the same plan.

Two networks to choose from:

      • Delta Dental PPO
        Dentists in this network typically charge less for covered services, and you will get the most savings.

      • Delta Dental Premier
        Dentists in this network may charge more for covered services than dentists in the PPO network. Services are covered at the same coinsurance, but you typically won’t save as much with a Premier dentist as you would with a PPO dentist.
