Pharmacy Technician

Our comprehensive course prepares students to enter the pharmacy field to work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies, and other health care settings under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
 

 

Pharmacy Tech Courses

PHRA 1001 – Introduction to Pharmacy

PHRA 1009 - Pharmaceutical Math

PHRA 1043 – Pharmacy Technician Review

(all three courses are required)

Topics include:

  • medical terminology specific to the pharmacy
  • reading and interpreting prescriptions
  • defining drugs by generic and brand names
  • dosage calculations
  • I.V. flow rates
  • drug compounding
  • dose conversions
  • dispensing of prescriptions
  • inventory control, billing, and reimbursement

Basic math comprehension is recommended.

Upon Completion of Course

The student will complete the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam which will lead to a certification with NHA EXCPT.

 

Summer 2026 Course Dates

June 2 - August 27, 2026
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6 - 9 pm
Online assignments (4 hours) due on Thursdays

Cost

  • Introduction to Pharmacy (PHRA 1001): $590
  • Pharmaceutical Math (PHRA 1009): $394
  • Pharmacy Technician Review (PHRA 1043): $295
  • NHA Exam Fee: $129
  • TOTAL = $1,408 (includes exam fee)

The Workforce Solutions office is located on Âé¶¹Ô­´´'s main campus, in room 138 of the Technology Center (TC) Building. Note: Students receiving federal and state financial aid are not eligible for WIOA assistance.
