The ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Alumni Association invites faculty, staff, students, and the entire
community to lace up for a fun and meaningful evening at Hometown Hoops, a family-friendly
basketball event taking place Saturday, April 18, from 4β7 p.m. at the Chap Center.
The event is designed to bring the community together through sports, connection,
and friendly competition, all while supporting student success. Proceeds from the
event, including concessions and participation fees, will benefit the ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Alumni Association
Transfer Scholarship, which helps ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ students continue their education
at four-year institutions.
βHometown Hoops is exactly what the Alumni Association is all about,β said Tim Jakel,
President of the ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Alumni Association. βWeβre really focused on bringing
people together in support of students. Every shot taken, every dunk made, and every
purchase at the event helps open doors for ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ students as they take the next step
in their academic journey. Weβre proud to champion opportunities that keep student
success at the center of everything we do.β
From 4β5 p.m., the court will be open for free play, and the public will have the
opportunity to shoot around with ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ basketball players, creating a fun, interactive
experience for families and fans of all ages. Competitive events follow later in the
evening, including a 3-point contest at 5 p.m. (first 10 participants, $25 entry)
and a dunk contest at 6 p.m. (first 20 participants, $25 entry). Winners will receive
prizes and goodie bags, and participants will have the opportunity to take photos
with basketball players.
In addition to on-court action, attendees can explore a lively vendor market on the
concourse level, featuring local offerings such as Kendra Scott jewelry, baked goods,
soaps, and more. A silent auction will also be held, featuring items including autographed
basketballs, a basket, a gift certificate, and an Urban Air birthday party package.
Community partners and ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ representatives will also be present, helping connect attendees
with resources and opportunities across campus and the region.
Food will be available for purchase, including BBQ sandwiches.
Admission is free and open to the public, and all proceeds directly support the Alumni Association Transfer Scholarship Fund, helping ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ students move forward in their educational and career goals.
